Are you dreaming of a lighter energy bill? Do you want to know more about the world of renewable energy and discover all its advantages? Keep reading this article to learn more about solar panels!

What are the prices of solar panels?

The price of solar panels depends on a number of variables, such as the number of people living in the house and average annual consumption.

 For this reason, it is always important to consult experts. Below, however, you will find a table with indicative prices for some solutions.

Number of people in the house.Power required to cover consumption.Number of panelsIndicative price including installation.Annual savings on accounts
12500 Wp86000 €500 €
23800 Wp15€ 9,000800 €
46200 Wp2412.000 €€ 1200

Start saving and know the price of your system!

Solar panels have become, over the years, increasingly cheap, only recently reaching a stable price. For this reason, now is the perfect time to take measurements and install them.

 ¿ Why install solar panels?

Solar panels have found fertile ground in our country: in 2016, the International Energy Agency (IEA) recognized Italy as the first in the world to use solar energy, which represents 8% of its consumption, followed by Greece and Germany.

If you want to equip your house with solar panels, you have chosen the perfect moment! Panel prices have actually fallen from year to year. But how much can it cost to install them?

¿What are solar panels?

These are technological devices capable of exploiting solar energy to produce electricity or to heat domestic water. It indicates different types of similar devices but used for different needs:

-Photovoltaic panels ;

-Thermal solar panels .

While the former are used to produce clean energy, the latter exploit the sun to produce domestic hot water.

¿ Which photovoltaic system to choose ?

Now, if your interest converges towards the installation of a photovoltaic system, its price depends essentially on the following factors:

-the type of silicon that makes up the photovoltaic cell: –.monocrystalline, polycrystalline or amorphous;

The size of the plant.

In any case, it should be borne in mind that the choice of panel type and the size of the system are two dependent variables: the more efficient the energy of the system, the less space it will occupy.

Other variables

The type of material that makes up the panel is by no means the only aspect that influences the size of the system. In fact, it also depends on two other factors:

-energy consumption;

-The available surface on the roof.

Energy consumption depends on the size of your home and the number of people living there.

The annual energy consumption of a small house with two people is about 3200 kWh. If you now divide this by 0.85, you will get an estimate of the power needed to meet your needs.

For example, if your annual consumption is 3200 kWh, the solar panels will have to cover a power of 3800 kwh. To achieve this, you will need 15 solar panels of 260 Wp. The price will be around 90

The photovoltaic system: operation, types and performance.

Operation

The photovoltaic system consists of modules that convert solar energy into direct current. In turn, this is converted into alternating current through an inverter.

Types of plants

Photovoltaic systems can be:

-isolated (independent);

-connected to the electricity grid (connected grid).

Independent systems are not connected to the grid, which provides a solution in cases where connection is not possible, such as mountain refuges.

Grid-connected systems can barely meet the energy needs of a family unit, but can contribute greatly to reducing utility bills.

 In cases where the energy generated by the plant exceeds requirements (this occurs more frequently in the case of industrial warehouses), it can be fed into the grid.

Performance

El rendimiento de los paneles solares depende de:

-tipo de módulos seleccionados;

-calidad de los componentes;

-Orientación de los paneles (la orientación óptima es hacia el sur).

-inclinación de los paneles (la inclinación óptima es de unos 30 °);

-ausencia de sombreado;

-lugar de instalación (la irradiación es mayor que en el sur de Italia y menos en el norte);

-el clima

The modules

When it comes to modules, the types on the market are as follows:

-monocristalino;

-policristalino;

-Con silicio amorfo.

Monocrystalline silicon solar panels are the most expensive and those with the highest performance and are recognized for their black color. Polycrystalline panels have a simpler and faster production process.

For this reason, its cost, as well as its performance, is lower compared to monocrystalline panels.

However, on a practical level, the differences between the two variants are not so excessive, especially in the case of domestic installations and the two options are of excellent quality.

 Polycrystalline panels can have different color variations and are generally blue or purple in color.

The figure shows the difference between monocrystalline solar panels (left) and polycrystalline solar panels (right).

inally, amorphous silicon panels are the type with the lowest performance and lowest cost: they do not use silicon crystals like the two previous types, but silicon powder.

This makes its structure flexible, an aspect that can benefit when installing a plant. Due to their lower efficiency, they occupy a larger area than poly and monocrystalline systems. Can be effective at high temperatures

The benefits of photovoltaics.

Solar thermal panels

There is often confusion between photovoltaic systems and solar collectors, also known as solar thermal panels.

Although both exploit the sun, the latter are used for the production of hot water and space heating. Solar thermal panels are mainly of two types:

-suelos acristalados;

-tubo de vacio

The former have the advantage of being less expensive and are particularly widespread in Italy. The latter, on the other hand, offer more performance and, for this reason, are a little more expensive.
